Rick Minor head shot

Rick Minor started his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Second Harvest of the Big Bend in August 2016. The mission of Second Harvest is to feed the hungry in the Big Bend through a network of partner agencies, and to educate and engage the community in the fight against hunger. In 2018 Second Harvest will deliver enough nutritious food for over 7.4 million free meals, an increase of 51% (an additional 2.27 million meals) from 2015.

In August 2018 Rick was also elected to the Leon County Commission, representing the citizens living in County Commission District 3. In addition, he previously served as Chief of Staff to the previous Mayor of Tallahassee, managing both the Mayor’s office and the City’s involvement in various projects.

Much of Rick’s career has been focused on developing public policy for state and local governments, but he's also spent a great deal of time in the private sector. He spent nearly a decade as a business and information technology consultant, working on numerous private and public sector projects throughout the United States as well as in Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, South Africa, and Denmark. He has also run the financial operations of a small business, managing accounts and making payroll for employees.

Rick was President of Tallahassee Music Week, Inc. and has served on the boards of The Shelter and the Tallahassee Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association. He is also a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class 26 and in 2013-2014 was a Knight Creative Communities Institute catalyst.

A native Floridian, Rick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He has also earned a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He and his wife, Jessica Lowe-Minor, have a four-year-old daughter and are expecting another daughter in November 2018.
